The UNFPA ICT Associate Job in Ghana (G7) offers a valuable opportunity for technology professionals to apply their skills within an international development context while contributing to impactful global initiatives. Based in Accra, this full-time position allows candidates to support digital operations and strengthen ICT systems within one of the United Nations’ leading agencies.

About the Program

The ICT Associate role is offered by United Nations Population Fund, the UN agency dedicated to ensuring that every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe, and every young person can reach their full potential. Operating across multiple countries, UNFPA plays a key role in advancing global development goals, particularly in areas such as reproductive health, gender equality, and population data.

In Ghana, the ICT Associate will work within a dynamic country office environment, supporting the implementation of digital systems and infrastructure. The role is supervised by the International Operations Manager and involves overseeing ICT services, ensuring system reliability, and providing technical support to staff.

This is a fixed-term position with an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.

Why This Opportunity Matters

As organizations increasingly rely on digital infrastructure, ICT professionals play a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency and service delivery. Within UNFPA, this role goes beyond technical support—it directly contributes to programs that improve lives and strengthen communities.

By maintaining secure and reliable systems, the ICT Associate enables teams to deliver essential services related to healthcare, gender equality, and development. This position therefore combines technical expertise with social impact, making it particularly relevant for professionals seeking purpose-driven careers.

Additionally, working within a UN agency provides exposure to international standards, cross-cultural collaboration, and complex operational environments, all of which are valuable for long-term career growth.

What Participants Will Gain

The ICT Associate will gain extensive experience managing and supporting enterprise-level ICT systems within a global organization. This includes working with infrastructure, software systems, and security protocols that support large-scale operations.

The role also offers the opportunity to develop leadership skills by overseeing ICT functions within the country office. Candidates will enhance their ability to troubleshoot technical issues, manage vendors, and implement digital strategies that improve organizational efficiency.

Beyond technical growth, the position provides exposure to international development work, allowing professionals to understand how technology supports global initiatives and policy implementation.

Working within UNFPA also enables candidates to build a strong professional network, connecting with experts across different sectors and countries.

Who Can Apply

This position is open to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Applicants should have at least three years of relevant professional experience in ICT roles within either the public or private sector.

Candidates should demonstrate strong technical knowledge, including familiarity with operating systems, network infrastructure, and ICT security systems. Experience with enterprise resource planning systems and corporate ICT environments is considered an advantage.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to technical challenges effectively.

Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of an additional UN language may strengthen an application.

Eligible Areas

This is a national position based in Accra, Ghana. Applicants must be eligible to work in Ghana.

Application Process and Deadline

The application deadline is May 9, 2026. Due to the competitive nature of UN roles, early applications are strongly encouraged.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo additional assessments, including technical evaluations and interviews.
