The Canadian International Development Scholarships 2030 (BCDI 2030) is a prestigious program that offers fully funded study and training opportunities in Canada. Funded by Global Affairs Canada, this eight-year initiative (2022–2030) is designed to support students from 26 eligible developing countries, providing them with access to high-quality education in fields that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This scholarship program goes beyond academic advancement. It is rooted in a vision to reduce inequalities, promote gender equality, and foster social and economic development in partner countries. Scholars selected through BCDI 2030 will gain vocational, technical, and higher education training in Canada, enabling them to become impactful agents of change upon their return home.

What the BCDI 2030 Scholarship Covers

BCDI 2030 is a fully funded scholarship that covers:

  • Full tuition fees

  • Living expenses

  • Travel costs

  • Additional academic and integration support as needed

It supports TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training), Bachelor’s, and Master’s level studies in development-related fields.

Key Highlights of BCDI 2030

  • 600+ fully funded scholarships will be awarded by 2030

  • At least 51% of recipients will be women, ensuring inclusive participation

  • Scholars will receive skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed for the evolving global job market

  • Upon completion, scholars are expected to contribute to social and economic transformation in their home countries

Who is Eligible?

Eligibility is not determined on an individual basis. Instead, eligibility is established through partnerships between a Canadian higher education institution (HEI) and a counterpart HEI in one of the 26 eligible countries.

Each partnership project determines:

  • Application timelines

  • Selection processes

  • Admission and academic criteria

Note: Interested students cannot apply directly to the BCDI 2030 program. Instead, they must apply through the local institutions participating in approved BCDI 2030 projects.
