Deadline: September 4, 2026
Applications are open for the Global Institute Fellowship for Transforming Systems 2026. The fellowship will bring together a cohort of 20 outstanding and influential education systems leaders worldwide for a carefully curated nine-month program of global learning designed to connect, inspire and support leaders to transform education systems so that all students develop holistically so that they can shape a better future.
The fellowship will connect, inspire, and enable learning among a rising generation of education systems leaders from countries around the world. Through the fellowship, they will grow their leadership, become part of a global community of peers, and generate insights about critical questions, including:
- What are the outcomes our systems must achieve for all students today?
- How do we best align the practices, structures, and culture of a system behind that purpose?
- What are our best strategies for improving the quality of learning in classrooms and what does that require of our own leadership?
Fellowship Components
The key components of the fellowship experience including:
- An in-person launch event over 4 days in late January 2027 in which fellows will deepen peer connections, explore their own leadership, and immerse themselves in a live system case study.
- A system transformation project that each fellow is focused on in their own context, which will form the basis of their peer learning, sharing and knowledge generation.
- 8 virtual roundtables and masterclasses in which fellows will explore the most pressing education system and leadership issues with global experts
- Coaching and mentoring programs through which fellows will be personally connected to world-renowned leaders in education, politics, business and tech.
- Ongoing opportunities for peer connection and learning throughout the fellowship experience and beyond to work through problems of practice and generate new insight.
- A joint publication supported by the Global Institute’s writing team, in which fellows communicate key learning and insights to a wider global audience.
Eligibility
- Open to currently serving policymakers, government officials, politicians and advisors in influential roles in ministries, regional offices and delivery units, with influence over the learning and development of significant numbers of young people at a regional or national level.
