Access to capital and world-class venture support remains a major challenge for many African startups—especially those led by women. Madica was created to change this reality.

Madica is a 12–18 month structured investment and venture-building program designed to support early-stage African startups with both capital and hands-on operational support. Backed by Flourish Ventures, Madica focuses on founders who are often overlooked by traditional venture capital, yet are building innovative, scalable solutions across the continent.

Through long-term funding, mentorship, and access to global networks, Madica equips founders with the tools they need to build resilient companies and scale sustainably.

Program Overview: Building Strong African Ventures from Day One

Madica invests in startups at the very beginning of their journey—when the right support can make the biggest difference. Selected companies receive up to $200,000 in equity investment, allowing founders to focus on building their products, hiring the right teams, and validating their business models.

Beyond capital, Madica delivers a comprehensive venture-building experience. Founders gain access to:

  • Hands-on mentorship from exceptional founders and operators
  • Training and coaching on company building by industry specialists
  • Structured guidance on product development, fundraising, and leadership
  • Targeted introductions to prospective investors for future funding rounds

The program is intentionally flexible. Applications are open all year round, meaning startups can apply whenever they feel ready—without the pressure of fixed deadlines or cohorts.

Key Benefits of the Madica Program

1. Capital Investment

Madica provides up to $200,000 in funding in exchange for equity ownership. This early capital helps founders move from idea validation to real market traction without the immediate pressure of raising large institutional rounds.

2. Community Support

Madica founders become part of a thriving, values-driven community built on trust, collaboration, and mutual support. Founders are encouraged to lean on each other, the Madica team, and the broader Flourish Ventures network to navigate both personal and professional challenges.

Participants also gain access to a global pool of mentors, executive coaches, and subject-matter experts who offer practical, hands-on guidance tailored to each startup’s needs.

3. Personalized Curriculum

Founders receive exclusive invitations to highly customized workshops focused on core company-building skills such as strategy, leadership, growth, and fundraising.

In addition, Madica offers up to four week-long immersion trips during the program. These trips allow founders to spend quality time with peers, mentors, global investors, and key ecosystem stakeholders—building relationships that often extend far beyond the program.

4. Long-Term Continuity

Madica’s support does not end when the program concludes. Graduating startups are introduced to carefully selected investors and accelerator programs that can help them raise follow-on capital and scale to the next level.

This continuity ensures founders are not left stranded after early-stage support, but instead remain connected to opportunities for long-term growth.

5. Exclusive Perks and Tools

To reduce operational costs, Madica provides access to curated startup tools and credits, including platforms such as AWS, Carta, and Salesforce. These perks make it easier for founders to focus resources on growth rather than overhead expenses.

Who Should Apply to Madica?

Madica is open to African founders across the continent, with a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and local leadership.

Team

Madica seeks local founders with diverse teams, representing different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Startups led by women and underrepresented founders are strongly encouraged to apply.

Traction

Eligible startups should have at least a minimum viable product (MVP), ideally with early traction such as first paying customers. The program is best suited for companies that have not yet raised significant institutional capital.

Sector

Madica welcomes founders from all sectors, including frontier and emerging industries such as AI, Web3, and other cutting-edge technologies. What matters most is the strength of the vision and the commitment to solving meaningful problems.

Tools for Startup Growth

Madica companies gain access to a carefully curated suite of tools, training, and credits designed to make building a startup easier and more efficient. These resources support everything from cloud infrastructure and legal compliance to customer relationship management.

Apply and Shape the Future of African Innovation

Madica is more than an investment program—it is a long-term partner for ambitious African founders ready to build impactful companies. With patient capital, global networks, and hands-on operational support, Madica is helping shape the future of entrepreneurship across the continent.

If you are building an early-stage startup in Africa and are ready to take the next step, Madica invites you to apply at any time.
