The Government Analytics Fellowship, hosted by the World Bank, is a transformative initiative designed to empower central government officials by leveraging data to drive smarter decision-making and enhance public administration. Applications are open until January 10, 2025.

About the Fellowship

Launched in 2024, the fellowship bridges the gap between underutilized government data and the potential for improved efficiency in public administration. Leveraging insights from the Government Analytics Handbook and supported by World Bank experts and academics, the Fellowship offers frontier evidence and practitioner insights to enhance government efficiency. The Fellowship is a collaboration between the World Bank Development Economics Vice-Presidency (DEC), the Development Impact Group (DIME) and the Governance Global Practice (GGP).

Key Features

  • Hybrid Structure: Includes two weeks of intensive in-person training in Washington, D.C., complemented by virtual sessions over six months.
  • Hands-On Learning: Fellows develop a government analytics project with support from World Bank experts and academics.
  • Global Networking: Access a community of government officials, data experts, and academics passionate about data-driven governance.
  • Fully Funded for Eligible Countries: The World Bank covers travel, accommodation, and subsistence for applicants from ODA-eligible countries.

Fellowship Timeline

  • In-Person Training: March 17–27, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
  • Duration: 6 months, with a blend of in-person and light virtual sessions (1 hour per week).
