UN Women has announced a new career opportunity for a Programme Associate position based in Bangkok under the National Partner Personnel Service Agreement (N-PPSA6).

The position is part of a major regional initiative focused on protecting the rights of women and children in labour migration across Asia and the Pacific. The role offers professionals an opportunity to contribute directly to gender equality, migration protection, anti-violence initiatives, and regional development programming within one of the United Nations’ leading agencies.

The Programme Associate will support project implementation, financial coordination, programme administration, logistics, and operational management within UN Women’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP).

The Programme Associate role is linked to the EU-funded regional initiative titled:

“PROTECT – Protection of the Rights of Women and Children in Labour Migration.”

The project is implemented through collaboration between:

  • United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)

Key Responsibilities of the Programme Associate

The selected candidate will support programme implementation and operational coordination across several major functions.

1. Programme Management and Administrative Support

The Programme Associate will:

  • Support programme work plans and budgets
  • Assist with project implementation arrangements
  • Coordinate reporting processes
  • Compile research and programme data
  • Support audits and compliance procedures
  • Prepare documentation, speeches, and briefing materials

The role requires close coordination with:

2. Financial and Budget Management

Financial administration is a major component of the position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and managing projects in the Quantum system
  • Preparing budget revisions

  • Managing requisitions and vouchers
  • Supporting financial closure processes

Candidates with strong budgeting and financial administration skills will be especially valuable for this role.

3. Logistics and Operational Coordination

The Programme Associate will also organize:

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

Applicants must have:

  • Completion of secondary education

A Bachelor’s degree in:

  • Business Administration
  • Public Administration
  • Or related fields

is considered desirable.

Professional Experience

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience
  • Experience in administration or programme management support
  • Experience using office software and digital systems
  • Experience supporting teams and coordination activities

Experience using ERP systems such as Oracle Cloud is considered an advantage.

Language Requirements

Applicants must be fluent in:

  • English
  • Thai

Knowledge of additional UN languages such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish is considered desirable.
