In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank, the University of Oxford has launched the Palestine Crisis Scholarship Scheme to provide full graduate scholarships for students who have been forcibly displaced. Since October 2023, the conflict has displaced hundreds of thousands and disrupted higher education in the region.
As a University of Sanctuary, Oxford is committed to fostering an inclusive community for displaced individuals. This initiative is part of a broader effort that includes various scholarships for refugees and students in need, such as the Refugee Academic Futures scheme and the Hope Scholarship and Leadership Programme.
The Palestine Crisis Scholarship will cover full course fees, provide a living costs grant, and support for arrival expenses, making it financially accessible for affected students. This initiative also aligns with Oxford’s commitment to rebuilding higher education in Gaza, including continued support for CARA Fellowships for at-risk academics and collaborations with local partners.
The scholarship scheme has been made possible through generous funding from across the collegiate university, reflecting a collective commitment to supporting displaced students. For more information on the Palestine Crisis Scholarship Scheme and other initiatives, prospective students can visit Oxford’s graduate access webpages. This scholarship not only empowers individuals but also contributes to the revitalization of education in the region.
