The Intergovernmental Authority on Development has officially launched the highly anticipated IGAD Media Awards 2026, a prestigious regional recognition platform celebrating impactful journalism and digital storytelling focused on migration, labour mobility, forced displacement, regional integration, and human mobility across the IGAD region.

The awards aim to honor journalists, media practitioners, digital creators, photojournalists, and storytellers whose work contributes to informed public discourse, evidence-based reporting, and responsible narratives surrounding migration and regional integration in East Africa and the Horn of Africa.

The IGAD Media Awards 2026 will take place in Kampala, Uganda, in November 2026 and will spotlight stories that promote dignity, counter misinformation, encourage social cohesion, and highlight human mobility as a driver of economic opportunity and regional cooperation.
