About the HPI Research School at UCT
The HPI Research School at UCT is affiliated with the School of Information Technology at the University of Cape Town and receives support from the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering. Academic Requirements
For PhD Fellowship Applicants:

For Postdoctoral Fellowship Applicants:
- Must possess a PhD in a relevant field.

English Language Requirements
Applicants whose previous education was not conducted in English may be required to provide evidence of English proficiency through:
- TOEFL score of at least 570 (paper-based) or 230 (computer-based), or
- IELTS overall band score of 7.0 with no section below 6.0
Applicants who studied in English are generally exempt from this requirement.
