The FAO Science and Innovation Strategy is designed to drive sustainable agrifood systems by leveraging science, technology, and innovation. This course introduces participants to the Strategy’s key pillars, outcomes, and guiding principles, providing a holistic understanding of how these elements promote better production, nutrition, environmental protection, and quality of life, aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Primarily intended for FAO staff, members, and partners, the course is also valuable for policymakers, researchers, agricultural practitioners, private sector stakeholders, and civil society organizations working in food security and rural development.
Course Highlights:
– Core components: Learn about the Strategy’s pillars, outcomes, enablers, and guiding principles.
– Key concepts: Understand the roles of science, innovation, and technology in advancing sustainable agriculture.
– Real-world applications: Apply the Strategy to promote sustainable agrifood systems in various contexts.
The course consists of three lessons (30-45 minutes each), covering the FAO Science and Innovation Strategy, its key ideas, and its application at the country level. Participants can earn a certification by passing the final exam with a score of 75% or higher.
