The European Commission has officially launched a prestigious call for applications for the selection of members of the RAISE High-Level Academic Advisory Board, a newly established expert group designed to guide the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) science in Europe.

This exceptional opportunity invites leading AI researchers and academics from around the world to contribute directly to European policymaking, scientific strategy, and the development of the ambitious Resource for AI Science in Europe (RAISE) initiative.

What is RAISE?

RAISE (Resource for AI Science in Europe) is a flagship initiative being developed by the European Commission to accelerate the advancement and adoption of Artificial Intelligence in scientific research and industrial innovation.

About the RAISE High-Level Academic Advisory Board

In March 2026, the European Commission’s:

  • Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD)
  • Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT)

established the RAISE High-Level Academic Advisory Board.

The Board serves as an independent advisory body composed of leading academics and experts in AI science.

The Commission is seeking to appoint between 10 and 15 members who possess outstanding scientific credentials and extensive experience in AI research.

Members will provide independent scientific advice to support the design, implementation, and long-term success of RAISE.

 

Responsibilities of Selected Experts

Members of the Advisory Board will support the European Commission by:

1. Advising on AI Science Policy

Experts will assist DG RTD and DG CNECT in preparing policy initiatives related to:
