Organizations working to create positive social, environmental, and health impact now have access to several outstanding funding opportunities designed to strengthen their programs, expand their reach, and improve sustainability. Whether you are a nonprofit, civil society organization, community-based organization (CBO), social enterprise, or healthcare institution, these grants provide financial resources, strategic partnerships, and capacity-building support to help maximize your impact.

This article highlights four major grant opportunities currently available for organizations across Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, low- and middle-income countries, and other eligible regions. These opportunities are offered by respected international organizations committed to supporting locally led development, social innovation, environmental protection, and healthcare quality improvement.

The funding opportunities featured include:

  • Oak Foundation Multi-Year Grants
  • New Africa Fund Matching Grants
  • Segal Family Foundation Partnership Funding
  • ISQua Quality Improvement Grants

Below is everything you need to know about each opportunity.

1. Oak Foundation Multi-Year Grants (Rolling Applications)

The Oak Foundation provides substantial multi-year grants to nonprofit organizations and civil society organizations working to achieve long-term social and environmental change.

Unlike many grant programs, organizations do not necessarily need to receive an invitation before expressing their interest. Eligible organizations whose work aligns closely with the Foundation’s priorities may submit an unsolicited Letter of Inquiry (LOI) for consideration.

Oak Foundation is known for supporting initiatives that create sustainable, systemic, and long-lasting impact rather than short-term interventions.

Funding Available

Organizations may receive:

  • Average grant size of approximately USD $900,000
  • Funding awards of up to USD $10 million for exceptional initiatives

The Foundation primarily supports organizations capable of delivering significant impact in areas aligned with its funding priorities.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants include:

  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Civil society organizations

Applicants should demonstrate strong alignment with the Oak Foundation’s funding priorities.

Deadline

Rolling applications (No fixed deadline)

Organizations may submit a Letter of Inquiry throughout the year.

2. New Africa Fund Matching Grants

The New Africa Fund is supporting early-stage organizations across Africa by providing financial assistance together with organizational development support.

The initiative aims to strengthen the long-term sustainability of African organizations by combining matching grants with fiscal sponsorship and capacity-building opportunities.

Funding Available

Successful organizations may receive:

  • Up to USD $5,000 in matching funds

Additional Benefits

Selected organizations will also benefit from:

  • Twelve (12) months of free fiscal sponsorship
  • Capacity-building opportunities
  • Access to organizational development support
  • Opportunity for top-performing organizations to attend an intensive workshop in Kigali, Rwanda

These additional services are designed to help organizations strengthen governance, fundraising capacity, and operational sustainability.

Eligible Applicants

Applications are welcomed from:

  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
  • Community-Based Organizations (CBOs)
  • Social enterprises

Organizations must be located within one of the 55 African Union Member States.

Deadline

14 August 2026

Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline.

3. Segal Family Foundation Partnership Funding

The Segal Family Foundation supports locally led organizations that are driving sustainable development across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Rather than operating through a traditional open grant competition, the Foundation builds long-term partnerships with organizations demonstrating exceptional impact and leadership.

Its funding approach emphasizes trust-based philanthropy by providing flexible, unrestricted support that allows organizations to invest where resources are most needed.

Funding Support

Partner organizations receive:

  • Flexible unrestricted funding
  • Long-term strategic partnership
  • Organizational strengthening support
  • Capacity development
  • Relationship-based collaboration

Because the funding is unrestricted, organizations have greater flexibility to allocate resources according to their strategic priorities.

Who Can Apply?

The Foundation works with:

  • High-impact organizations
  • Locally led development organizations
  • Organizations operating across Sub-Saharan Africa

Application Process

There is no open call for applications.

Instead, new partners are identified through trusted referral networks and strategic recommendations.

Organizations interested in learning more can review the Foundation’s partnership approach through its official website.

4. ISQua Quality Improvement Grant

The International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) is inviting applications from organizations committed to improving healthcare quality and patient safety in low- and middle-income countries.

The grant supports initiatives that strengthen healthcare systems and improve the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare services.

Funding Available

Successful applicants may receive:

  • €15,000

Eligible Organizations

The grant is open to:

  • Healthcare organizations
  • Hospitals
