关于机会

Fellowship Overview

The 2025 STMIC Fellows will serve for one calendar year, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. During this period, Fellows will receive a stipend, gain access to mentorship, and enjoy professional development and networking opportunities. Additionally, Fellows will have the chance to leverage New America and #ShareTheMicInCyber’s platforms to promote their work.

Eligibility and Encouragement

The fellowship encourages applications from all, with a particular focus on individuals who are underrepresented in the cybersecurity field. This includes, but is not limited to, those who identify as Black and/or people of color, LGBTQIA+, on the gender spectrum, or neurodiverse. U.S. citizenship is not a requirement to apply.

How to Apply

Applications are available online through SurveyMonkey Apply. Applicants will need to submit the following materials:

A resume or CV (maximum of 3 pages)
Two essay responses:
- A project proposal (1,000 words or less)
- A personal statement of interest (500 words)
Contact information for one recommender (who will serve as a reference if selected for the interview round)
Optional work samples (up to three)

Application Timeline

The application period is from August 15, 2024, to September 30, 2024, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Applications will be reviewed throughout the fall, and finalists will be invited to a 30-minute interview with program staff in early November. Final decisions will be announced in mid-November 2024, with Fellows being publicly introduced in January 2025.

Tips for a Successful Application

Leverage Your Unique Perspective: Highlight what makes your viewpoint unique and how it can contribute to cybersecurity and technology policy.
Be Future-Forward: Propose research topics that will remain relevant in the coming years and may intersect with other significant issues like AI, climate change, or supply chain security.
Prepare Thoroughly: The two essay questions are a crucial part of your application. Make sure to follow the provided guidelines and dedicate time to crafting thoughtful responses.
