The Just Economy Institute Fellowship 2026–2027 is a transformative leadership program designed for financial activists seeking to use capital as a tool for social and economic justice. This nine-month fellowship brings together a global community of innovators, leaders, and changemakers committed to shifting systems of power and building a more equitable economy.

About the Program

The Just Economy Institute (JEI) Fellowship is an intensive program running from October 2026 to June 2027, designed to support leaders who are actively working at the intersection of finance and social change. The fellowship combines in-person immersions, virtual learning sessions, peer collaboration, and individualized mentorship to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

Fellows participate in three in-person immersions held in California, alongside ten online sessions featuring leading practitioners in areas such as impact investing, community wealth building, and social movements. In addition, participants engage in one-on-one advisory support, peer coaching, and complete a creative capital project that applies their learning to real-world challenges.

The program is grounded in examining the current economic system and exploring how financial and social capital can be leveraged to create systemic transformation. It emphasizes not only technical knowledge but also personal development and collective action.

Why This Opportunity Matters

Global economic systems continue to reflect deep inequalities, with capital often concentrated in ways that reinforce exclusion and harm. Addressing these systemic challenges requires leaders who understand both the mechanics of finance and the social dynamics of change.

The JEI Fellowship responds to this need by equipping participants with the tools, networks, and mindset required to transform how capital flows and who benefits from it. It supports a growing movement of financial activists who are working to dismantle extractive systems and replace them with models rooted in equity, sustainability, and community well-being.

By bringing together professionals from diverse sectors, the program fosters collaboration and shared learning, strengthening the broader ecosystem of leaders committed to economic justice.

What Participants Will Gain

Participants in the JEI Fellowship gain a unique combination of personal, professional, and systemic development that extends beyond traditional leadership programs.

Fellows deepen their understanding of how financial and social capital can be mobilized to create lasting impact. They develop practical skills in areas such as impact investing, funder organizing, and community wealth building, enabling them to design and implement more effective solutions within their work.

The program also emphasizes inner development, helping participants build self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate complex systems and relationships. This combination of technical and personal growth strengthens participants’ capacity to lead transformative initiatives.

Additionally, fellows become part of a global community of over 200 leaders, gaining access to long-term networks, collaboration opportunities, and ongoing support beyond the fellowship period. This community plays a critical role in amplifying impact and sustaining momentum for systemic change.

Who Can Apply

The fellowship is designed for financial activists and leaders who are committed to advancing social and economic justice. Ideal applicants are individuals who have the ability to influence the flow of financial or social capital and are actively working to create positive change within their communities or sectors.

Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to equity and systemic transformation, along with a willingness to engage deeply in both personal and professional development. The program seeks individuals with emotional intelligence, leadership potential, and a clear desire to grow their impact.

Eligible Areas

The JEI Fellowship is open to applicants globally. It brings together participants from a wide range of sectors, including finance, philanthropy, social entrepreneurship, policy, and community development, creating a diverse and interdisciplinary cohort.

Application Process and Deadline

Applications for the Just Economy Institute Fellowship 2026–2027 are open until 30 April 2026. Interested candidates must complete the online application form and submit required materials outlining their experience, motivation, and alignment with the program’s mission.

After submission, applicants will receive a status update in mid-May. Selected candidates will be invited to participate in interviews in June, with final cohort selections confirmed in early July 2026.

The program operates on a sliding scale fee model ranging from $10,000 to $40,000, depending on the financial capacity of the participant or their organization. Financial support is available, and applications are reviewed through a need-blind process to ensure equitable access.

Due to the program’s intensive nature, fellows are expected to fully participate in all components, including the three in-person immersions and virtual sessions.

Learn more and apply on the official JEI website.
