Funding Fairer Futures is a new Europe-wide initiative dedicated to strengthening the climate movement and transforming it into one that is truly inclusive. The initiative aims to ensure that everyone—including people from marginalised and underrepresented communities—can actively participate in, influence, and shape climate action across Europe.
This funding opportunity is particularly relevant for youth organisations, grassroots groups, and informal collectives seeking to advance climate justice, social inclusion, and a just transition.
Building an Inclusive Climate Movement in Europe
Funding Fairer Futures is powered by a coalition of leading civil society and climate justice organisations, working together to build community power and challenge decision-makers to act with equity and accountability. The initiative recognises that the climate movement must go beyond traditional spaces and actively include voices that have historically been excluded.
By investing in youth leadership, collaboration, and innovation, Funding Fairer Futures is helping to reshape Europe’s climate movement into one that reflects the diversity of its communities.
Youth Climate Changemakers Fund: Grants Now Open
At the heart of this initiative is the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund, the largest fund in Europe dedicated to youth-led climate action. The fund provides both financial support and capacity-building opportunities, including training and networking, to help young people drive systemic change.
Grant Amounts Available
Both established organisations and informal groups are encouraged to apply.
Who Can Apply?
Funding is available to:
-
Youth organisations and informal groups based in the 27 EU Member States
-
Groups working inside or outside traditional climate spaces
-
Organisations that may be new to climate or environmental work, including those focused on social justice, inclusion, education, health, gender equality, or community development
You do not need to be a dedicated environmental organisation to apply.
Key Funding Priorities
The Youth Climate Changemakers Fund is designed to support projects that align with the following priorities:
1. Strengthening the Youth Climate Movement
The fund provides essential financial resources, training, and networking opportunities to empower youth-led climate initiatives and build long-term movement capacity.
2. Engaging New and Underrepresented Audiences
Addressing the climate movement’s diversity gap is a core objective. The fund prioritises projects that reach young people and communities not traditionally involved in climate activism.
3. Creating Long-Term Impact and Legacy
Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how the funding will contribute to future growth, sustainability, and lasting influence within the climate movement.
4. Joining a Collaborative Community
Funding Fairer Futures is more than a grant. Successful applicants become part of a shared learning and action community, working alongside other youth-led initiatives across Europe.
5. Amplifying the Funding Fairer Futures Campaign
Supported projects should contribute to advancing the broader Funding Fairer Futures campaign and the shared goal of achieving a just transition.
