About the Gustave Roussy Prize

Cancer remains one of the world’s leading health challenges, affecting millions of people every year. Continuous scientific research has resulted in remarkable progress in early diagnosis, precision medicine, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, prevention strategies, and patient-centered care. The Gustave Roussy Prize was created to recognize researchers whose discoveries have contributed substantially to these advances.

The award was launched in 2025 to commemorate two important milestones:

  • The 150th anniversary of Professor Gustave Roussy’s birth.
  • The centenary of the Gustave Roussy Institute.

Professor Gustave Roussy is widely recognized as a pioneer in cancer care. In 1921, he established one of the world’s first medical consultations dedicated specifically to patients with tumors, laying the foundation for modern comprehensive oncology care. Today, Gustave Roussy is recognized as Europe’s leading cancer center and continues to drive innovation through cutting-edge research, education, and patient care.

Prize Value

The Gustave Roussy Prize carries a total value of €200,000, making it one of the largest international awards dedicated to cancer research.

The funding is divided into two components:
