The West African Research Center (WARC) Travel Grant promotes intra-African collaboration by supporting research visits across the continent. This grant provides up to $1,500 for travel costs and an additional $1,500 stipend.
Eligible Uses:
- Visit libraries or archives in Africa with resources necessary for your academic work.
- Engage in collaborative work with colleagues at another African institution.
- Travel to a research site within Africa.
Eligibility: Open only to West African nationals, with preference given to those affiliated with West African colleges, universities, or research institutions.
Application Requirements:
- Abstract (50-80 words) outlining the purpose of the visit.
- Project/Research description (up to 6 double-spaced pages) explaining the relevance of the travel to your research. This should be understandable to non-specialists.
- Proposed budget.
- Curriculum vitae, including research and teaching experience.
- Photocopy of passport (proof of West African nationality).
- Online submission in PDF format.
- Letter of recommendation from a professor or colleague.
Additional Documents Required:
- For institution visits: Invitation from the host institution.
- For archive consultations: Description of the collections to be consulted and their significance to your research.
- Graduate students: Letter of recommendation from your research supervisor.
