  • To be eligible for the internship, candidates must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program (pursuing a master’s degree or PhD with plans to return to school full-time).
  • There is no age limit
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of additional languages, such as French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese, is desirable.
  • Other skills, including computing skills, are advantageous.

What is BIP?

The Bank Internship Program is designed to welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills who are passionate about making a meaningful impact. It provides a platform for interns to bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and valuable research experience to the World Bank’s multifaceted work.

Eligibility Criteria

  • To be eligible for the internship, candidates must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program (pursuing a master’s degree or PhD with plans to return to school full-time).

Internship Details

  • Internships are available in various fields, including economics, finance, human development, social sciences, agriculture, environment, engineering, urban planning, natural resources management, private sector development, and more.
  • The positions are based on business needs and are primarily located in Washington, DC, with some opportunities in World Bank country offices.
  • Interns receive an hourly salary, and for applicable cases, there is a travel allowance of up to USD 3,000 at the discretion of the manager.
  • Accommodations are the responsibility of the interns.

  • Applicants should use specified browsers, register with a valid email address, and upload necessary documents, including 
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Statement of Interest
    • Proof of Enrollment in a graduate degree.

Application is now open and will close on February 14, 2025

Key Application Points:

  • Use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, or Internet Explorer 10 or higher.
  • Ensure a stable internet connection.
  • Complete the application in a single session within 90 minutes.
  • Provide accurate personal information and a valid phone number.
  • Avoid special characters in application fields and document filenames.
  • Each document should not exceed 5 MB and should be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf formats.

Upon submission, applicants will receive an email confirmation with their application number.

Selection Process

After the application period closes, qualified applicants’ profiles are shared with World Bank operations and business units. Interviews follow, and the selection process concludes with the announcement of the new BIP cohort in early May.
