The Colin Powell Leadership Program is now open for applications, providing recent college graduates with paid fellowship opportunities to help shape the future of U.S. diplomacy and public service. This program is committed to fostering a workforce that is as diverse and dynamic as the world we represent, and it offers a unique career start for those passionate about making a difference on a global stage.
About the Colin Powell Leadership Program
Named in honor of Colin Powell, the first Black Secretary of State, this program is designed to promote equity, inclusivity, and diverse leadership within the U.S. Civil Service. Fellows will work within the U.S. Department of State, gaining firsthand experience in the field of foreign affairs, while receiving specialized support to excel in their careers.
The program includes:
- Paid Fellowship: Fellows will receive a competitive salary and benefits, making this a financially viable option for recent graduates.
- Training and Professional Development: Structured training sessions provide fellows with essential skills in policy analysis, project management, and leadership.
- Mentorship Opportunities: Each fellow is paired with an experienced Civil Service leader to guide them through their fellowship and support their career development.
- On-the-Job Experience: Fellows gain practical experience in key Civil Service roles, allowing them to contribute directly to the work of the U.S. Department of State.
Fellowship Tracks and Available Positions
