The FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University invites applications for the Global Community Organizing and Advocacy for Climate and Health (Global COACH) Scholars Program — a transformative, fully-funded opportunity for teams of health professionals and community partners across the globe.

This intensive, six-month program will train selected participants in leadership, storytelling, and community organizing to amplify their impact in delivering climate solutions that protect health and advance equity.

 About the Global COACH Program

The Global COACH program is designed to empower health professionals — including physicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and other allied workers — as well as community partners such as public health professionals and non-profit leaders. Together, they will build essential skills in organizing, advocacy, and climate-health action rooted in justice, equity, and sustainability.

The program is co-sponsored by:

  • The FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University

  • Global Climate and Health Alliance

  • Stanley Center for Peace and Security

  • Health Care Without Harm

  • CHA Center for Health Equity Education & Advocacy

  • Harvard’s Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece

Program Timeline

  • In-person Immersion in Greece: March 28 – April 3, 2026

    • Location: Athens & Nafplio, Greece, at Harvard’s Center for Hellenic Studies

    • Travel, accommodation, meals, and transport fully covered

  • Online Zoom Sessions: Monthly from May – October 2026

    • Six 2-hour sessions focusing on leadership, storytelling, and climate-health science

  • Application Deadline: Friday, September 12, 2025

  • Applications Open: Wednesday, July 23, 2025

What You’ll Gain

  • Leadership Training: Learn community organizing skills inspired by Harvard Kennedy School’s Marshall Ganz, adapted specifically for the climate-health space.

  • Project-Based Learning: Work on a real-time climate solution initiative with your group, supported by a professional community organizing coach.

  • Scientific Foundation: Build your knowledge of climate change impacts on health and develop effective messaging strategies.

  • Global Network: Join a global cohort of changemakers and gain mentorship, collaboration, and support.

Who Should Apply?

This program is open to groups of three people already working together on climate and health initiatives. Each group must include:

  • Three health professionals, or

  • Two health professionals and one community partner (e.g. a nonprofit leader, environmental justice advocate, or public health official)

Why groups? This model ensures that participants can bring back learned practices to their organizations, multiplying impact and fostering collective leadership.

If you’re interested but don’t have a full group of three, reach out to the organizers for guidance.

Cost & Support

  • No tuition fees

  • Roundtrip airfare, lodging, meals, and local transport are fully covered

  • Visa fees and related travel costs are reimbursed

All sessions — both in person and online — are mandatory for participation.

Certificate & Recognition

All participants will receive a certificate of attendance upon completing the program, and will be expected to implement and report on their climate solution project throughout the course.
