The Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) has launched One Country, One Project 2026, a Commonwealth-wide initiative designed to recognise and showcase impactful youth-led projects that are responding to real challenges in communities.

One Country, One Project is an initiative of the Commonwealth Youth Council, the official representative body of young people across the Commonwealth’s 56 member states.

The award is expected to be presented during CHOGM Week in Antigua and Barbuda.

The 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will take place in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, from 1–4 November 2026. It will bring together representatives from the Commonwealth’s 56 member countries, including government, business, civil society and youth organisations.

Connection to Commonwealth Youth Engagement

The 2026 Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) will also take place in Antigua and Barbuda alongside CHOGM. The forum is intended to provide young people with a platform to address issues affecting them and ensure that youth perspectives contribute to Commonwealth decision-making.

The 2026 Commonwealth Youth Forum is being held under the theme “Investing in Youth Agency – Co-Creating Pathways towards Shared Prosperity.” A 23-member international taskforce has been selected to help shape and deliver the forum.

Against this backdrop, One Country, One Project offers another avenue for youth-led action to be recognised within the wider Commonwealth youth agenda.

How the Selection Process Works

The process begins with project registration.

After registration, participating organisations are expected to implement their projects during August and September 2026. Projects will then be assessed based on the impact they have demonstrated.

For organisations hoping to stand out, it will therefore be important to document their work carefully. Evidence could include the number of people reached, activities completed, outcomes achieved, community feedback, photographs, testimonials, partnerships and other measurable results.

A strong project should be able to clearly answer three questions:
