The U.S. Department of State Youth Ambassador Program is a long-standing exchange initiative that dates back to the 1950s. This unique opportunity allows young Americans to represent their country at International Expositions, or World’s Fairs, engaging with millions of visitors from across the globe. Serving as a Youth Ambassador at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be the “Face of America” for many visitors who may be meeting an American for the first time.
Youth Ambassadors will gain valuable experience by welcoming and interacting with international visitors at the U.S. Pavilion, assisting in event organization, and promoting cross-cultural understanding. Many past participants have gone on to careers in foreign policy, international business, and event management. Additionally, Youth Ambassadors become part of the U.S. government’s exchange alumni network, which provides continued opportunities for grants and programs.
What to Expect
Youth Ambassadors will serve at the U.S. Pavilion at Expo 2025, helping to create memorable experiences for visitors. They will also participate in events and activities that promote U.S. culture and values.
Who Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking young people, ages 19-27, who are passionate about representing the U.S. Ideal candidates are multilingual, with proficiency in English and languages such as Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Portuguese. However, language skills are not a requirement.
Program Dates
Youth Ambassadors will be divided into three cohorts:
– Full-Term: March 26 – October 15, 2025
– Spring: March 26 – July 23, 2025
– Fall: July 12 – October 15, 2025
All participants will attend an orientation in Fort Worth, Texas from March 22 – 26, 2025.
