The Huduma Fellowship is now open to applications, offering a transformative opportunity for early-career professionals in Uganda’s public and civic sectors. Designed to nurture ethical, effective, and forward-thinking leaders, the programme equips participants with the skills, values, and networks needed to strengthen public service and drive meaningful change.

A joint initiative of the LéO Africa Institute and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, the Huduma Fellowship aims to build a community of principled leaders committed to integrity, accountability, and service.

About the Huduma Fellowship

The Huduma Fellowship is a one-year leadership development programme tailored for individuals working in public service and civic spaces. Through a combination of residential seminars, mentorship, and peer learning, fellows engage deeply with the challenges and opportunities shaping governance and public leadership in Uganda.

Participants will join a network of like-minded professionals who are equally dedicated to improving systems, institutions, and communities.

Fellowship Structure

The programme is structured around four key phases, each designed to build critical leadership competencies:

1. Foundational Leadership

Fellows begin by developing self-awareness and clarifying their personal leadership values. This phase focuses on identity, purpose, and the inner work required for effective leadership.

2. Public Service Ethics and Governance

Participants explore ethical leadership within the context of public institutions, learning how to navigate complex governance environments with integrity and accountability.

3. Policy and Implementation

This phase emphasizes practical skills in translating ideas into action. Fellows learn how to design, implement, and evaluate policies and initiatives within their sectors and communities.

4. Graduation and Capstone Project

The fellowship culminates in a capstone project, where participants present solutions rooted in real-world challenges they have identified in their work or communities.

Why Apply?

The Huduma Fellowship is more than a training programme—it is a platform for shaping the future of public service in Uganda. Fellows gain the tools to lead with integrity, the confidence to address complex challenges, and the community to support their continued growth.

If you are committed to building a culture of principled public service and making a lasting impact in your sector, the Huduma Fellowship offers a unique pathway to grow as a leader and changemaker.
