What We Offer

Awarded scholarships provide comprehensive support for your research journey:

• Stipend: €22,000 per annum
• Fee Contribution: Up to €5,750 per annum (including non-EU fees)
• Direct Research Expenses: Up to €3,250 per annum

The total scholarship value can reach up to €31,000 per annum.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

• Age: Open to all ages
• Eligibility Quiz: Pass an online eligibility quiz before applying
• University Affiliation: Be linked with an eligible Irish university
• Degree Requirements: Hold a Bachelor’s degree for a Master’s program or a Master’s degree for a PhD program
• English Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in the English language
• Academic References: Provide positive academic references
• Previous Applications: Have not failed twice in previous applications for the same programme
• Results Pending: Students awaiting results may apply with provisional certificates
• Academic Distinction: Hold a first-class or upper-second-class degree
• Previous Scholarship: Have not previously held an Irish Research Council scholarship
• Supervisor: Secure a willing supervisor for research guidance
• Research Topics: Research topics must exclude human modification (except cancer research) and human embryo production.
