The NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York (NGO CSW/NY) is excited to announce the second cohort of the Global Youth Fellows program. This initiative aims to strengthen the global community of youth advocates for gender equality by celebrating and supporting the work of 20 young activists from around the world. If you are passionate about advancing women’s rights and engaging in global conversations on gender equality, this is your chance to join a vibrant network of like-minded individuals.
About the Program
The 2024-2025 cohort will focus on programming designed around the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which remains the most comprehensive blueprint for advancing women’s rights. The program will explore the 12 critical areas of concern identified in the Platform, applying a human rights framework to advocate for the rights of women and girls in all their diversity, including gender-expansive individuals.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Global Youth Fellows program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Must be under 40 years old.
- Experience: At least two years of professional or volunteer experience in community or civil society work.
- Engagement: Currently involved in a community engagement initiative in their home country with a clear intent to pursue a career in civil society.
- Commitment: Able to begin the Global Youth Fellows program in October 2024 and committed to implementing the award in your organization.
- Language: Proficient in spoken and written English.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Benefits
Selected fellows will be expected to:
- Commitment: Attend monthly meetings and complete assigned tasks throughout the program.
- Financial Award: Receive USD 1,000 for their organization to support ongoing work on gender equality.
- Publication: Have their story and activism featured in a multimedia publication.
- Youth Preparation Series: Lead a Youth Preparation Series within the YLYP network, playing a key role in shaping the series.
- Instagram Takeover: Take over the NGO CSW/NY Instagram account to share their story and promote their work.
- Advocacy: Engage in NGO CSW/NY advocacy efforts and receive advocacy training.
- Networking: Access a global community of young advocates that will support them for years to come.
- CSW Participation: Participate in Conversation Circles and have speaking opportunities at the CSW forum.
- Amplification: Gain visibility within the NGO CSW/NY global community.
